Influence of Digg, YouTube, Facebook and Napster on the Web

The documentary, “Download: A History of the Internet” is a great look at how young entrepreneurs developed an Internet phenomenon that transformed our view of the web into an interactive media experience.  Chad Hurley (YouTube) and Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) have led the way in this Web 2.0 revolution where the viewers of the web are now the creators of the web.  This has significantly influenced business and if your business is not on the web, then you are not taking advantage of what is available to you.

How does this influence Web Designers?  Web Designers used to code simple pages and make things look pretty.  That is all a company wanted.  Now companies want the full presence from social media to aggressive marketing to high web-driven sales.  Web Designers have to learn an incredible amount of languages and code to make this happen.  They must also be “intelligent” in business, marketing, sales and other areas of business that is key to the developing their “place” on the web.
